if it feels right...

i recently read that "if it feels right, it probably is." even after reading it a couple days ago, i am still dumbfounded by it.

proverbs 12:15 says "the way of a fool is right in his own eyes."

let's look at this again:
if if feels right, it probably is.
the way of the fool is right in his own eyes.

so, if it feels right, it can become "right" to you, even though it may just be the most foolish thing you could possibly do. (trust me, i know from experience.)

[not to say that things that feel right are never right. this is not the case. however, i will say that sometimes doing the right thing is the hardest and most painful thing you can do.]

adam and eve had a pretty sweet crib starting out. they didn't have a starter house that they had to remove blown-in insulation and old nasty drywall from. they lived in an awesome, perfect, sinless garden.

above all of that, they were in perfect communion with God. this is an idea that i have a hard time expanding upon because right now, we can't know how it feels.

why can't we know how that feels? because something felt right.

God forbid adam and eve from eating the fruit from ONE TREE in the ENTIRE garden.

satan, that crafty snake, slithered up to eve and convinced her to eat the forbidden fruit. genesis 3:6 says that eve "saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes." to eve, it just seemed "right."

so she ate it, and she shared it with adam. and from this first sin came a chasm between God and man. pain in childbirth, toiling for food, and death are specifically mentioned as punishments for this. even further, what came from the fall? everything bad. the headache i have right now. the hole in my dad's heart when he was born. the cancer that killed my aunt. our everyday lives are affected deeply by this one thing - doing what WASN'T right and what was expressly forbidden.

but man, it sure felt "right."

the title:

there's no deep meaning to the title except that i got tired of skimming proverbs to find something that i wanted to call my (newest) blog. true story.

why a new one? i don't really know why, but i felt it was time. (no, i'm not pregnant. well, i might be. but i don't know. so that's not why. but it could be. eventually. or now. whatever.)
